Welcome to the Nevada Forward Party & Lobby 3's Lightning Talks! This event is designed as an open forum for members of our community to share their ideas, passions, and insights. Our core focus will be on key topics including Open Primaries, Ranked-Choice Voting, community service, local politics, civic engagement, and all things related to policy, as long as they tie back to the Nevada Forward Party's priorities: Free People, Thriving Communities, Vibrant Democracy. This is your platform to express your positive change initiatives, to inspire and engage your fellow Nevadans in a constructive dialogue, all in the spirit of fostering a solutions-oriented and forward-thinking political environment.

Instructions for Participants

Time Limit: Each participant will have a 5-minute window to present their talk. Following this, there will be a 5-minute Q&A session. Please respect these time limits to ensure all speakers have an equal opportunity to present.

Topic Selection: Your talk can cover a broad range of topics. However, the focus should remain relevant to the Nevada Forward Party, Open Primaries, and Ranked-Choice Voting. We also welcome presentations on community service, policy passion projects, local politics, and civic engagement.

Structure Your Talk: In order to ensure that your message is conveyed effectively, we recommend structuring your talk with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Be sure to provide context, present your ideas, and end with actionable steps or a call-to-action where appropriate.

Prepare for Q&A: After your talk, there will be a 5-minute Q&A session. Please be ready to engage in positive and meaningful dialogue with other participants.

Ground Rules

Positive Tone: The purpose of this event is to foster positivity, collaboration, and forward-thinking solutions. As such, we ask that all participants maintain a positive and respectful tone throughout their presentations and interactions.

Non-Partisan Discussions: While we understand that politics can incite passionate viewpoints, we request that all discussions refrain from rants about previous and current presidents, elected officials, or other political parties. The goal here is to focus on the present & future, not critique the past.

Respectful Dialogue: Please respect the views and opinions of others, even if they differ from your own. This is a platform for open dialogue and constructive discussion.

Stay On Topic: Ensure your discussion and questions during the Q&A stay relevant to the presented topic. This ensures the conversation remains focused and valuable for all participants.

Solution-Oriented: We encourage speakers to present ideas that are solutions-oriented. Let's focus on what we can do to create positive changes within our communities, rather than dwelling on the problems alone.
